Special Designed cGMP Mill for the Pharmaceutical Industry
Apex has developed cGMP versions especially for the pharmaceutical industry, which enable complete disassembly by hand for inspection by a single person.
A new purged FDA compliant seal arrangement is fitted to avoid fine particles from entering the bearing assemblies, additionally, with the purged seal arrangement, it is now possible to carry out a ‘wash-in place’ WIP procedure.
To meet the requirements of the new generation of potent and sterile pharmaceuticals we can offer isolation technology through the complete range of our mills, which combine both operator and product protection.
HS
Series
The Apex Model 314, 214 and 114 Comminuting Mills are now available with a High Speed Mill Chamber option. These Comminuting Mill Chambers, type ‘HS’ are configured to provide rotor speeds significantly higher than previously. The effect of increased rotor speed can be significant, providing size reduction to particle sizes not previously possible in mills of this type.
The Apex series HS Mills are provided with strengthened blades and rotating assemblies in order to cater for the increased stresses applied during operation.
This new High Speed Option, available from Apex is some 30% greater than our neatest competitors.
APEX FLUID ENERGY MILLS
The Apex Fluid Energy Mills
Series 260 have been designed and built to meet the increasing demand in industry today for products in a very finely divided state. Materials such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, antibiotics, etc., which are reduced to low micron sizes, have greatly increased surface area - this effect of increased surface area is very important and is illustrated in industry by improved suspensions; faster and more complete chemical reaction; greater absorption’s - these are only a few of the many and varied results of this increase in particle surface.
The Apex fluid Energy Mill employs no moving parts - size reduction results from attrition between rapidly moving particles of the material being ground. The energy to achieve these high particle velocities is supplied by a compressed fluid, normally air, gas or steam, which enters the grinding chamber at high speeds through purpose designed nozzles in the periphery.
MULTIPEX
The Apex Multipex
Drive Unit is the basis of the Multipex Universal System. A simple bench top, maintenance free, yet versatile, high-powered variable speed drive unit for all the Apex DUA attachments.
The Drive Unit incorporates an inverter drive providing a smooth start and controlled acceleration that is both quiet and efficient.
Apex Multipex DUA attachments are fitted to the Drive Unit via a quick release coupling and secured in place by two knurled knobs. Two additional support bars with knurled locking nuts are provided for additional support for some attachments.
BLENDERS

are based upon the unique, patented, 'Y' shaped cone offering major advantages:
The 'Y' shaped cone substantially improves the mixing quality of free-flowing powders and granules of varying size, geometry, or density, in the minimum of time,
the gentle, tumble like action prevents attrition of fragile crystal structures and does not generate heat,
unlike similar equipment in which the outlet is elliptical, the 'Y' cone blenders have circular outlets eliminating both bridging and the need for vibrator-assisted devices during discharge.
